That post surf stoke glow. Such a fun session! (on Saturday) I haven’t had my longboard out in a while.
I stopped breast feeding a few weeks ago. (18months)
bye bye boobs. You were fun while you lasted.
I’ve been a flat chested gal all my life.
I really enjoyed having some curves for a while.
I really enjoyed breast feeding. And I was ready to stop. (He was not) And it was a long transition.
It feels good to have my full body autonomy back.

I’m willing to bet you have routines, habits, and rituals surrounding and supporting everything you are truly devoted to.
For me right now it’s my desire to live in Integrity.
Showing up as the Whole being
Athlete
Coach
Mother & Wife
So everyday I train, I work, I spend time with my family.
Even when I don’t want to.
Even when it’s really hard.
I never question Why
And I never abandon myself in the process.
Our devotions come from an internal desire for something. (Connection, purpose,…)
Our discipline comes from an external desire for something (results, recognition,…)
The masculine has goals he/she wants to achieve
The feminine has desires he/she longs to have met.
The OUTCOME can be the same either way.
It’s about the energy you feel in the process.
Knowing the two and being able to dance in between them as needed.
Does this make sense?

One is not greater. One is not right or wrong.
I believe we need both.
For a long time I had only discipline to rely on. I had to keep my own fire lit.
And I was so close to burning out.
Now I know devotion, and though my plate is more full these days than it’s ever been, it’s like a never ending source of fuel to keep me stoked.

📣Clinic Announcement! 📣 I will be holding a Stroke Technique Clinic in Sarasota, FL during the ICF SUP World Cup
When: Thursday October 12, 2023
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
What: Stroke Technique Clinic with Seychelle
Where: Nathan Benderson Park - Sarasota, FL
It’s been a while since I’ve been on the west coast of Florida. I’m excited to meet some new faces and see many I haven’t in a very long time.
I will be hosting a 2 hour stand up paddle clinic on land and on the water. We will go over paddle stroke technique and practice drills to improve your stroke efficiency, power, and speed. We will also discuss best practices and stroke adjustments to modify for and prevent injuries.
Bring all of your SUP stroke questions, your board, paddle, pfd, and water bottle.
This clinic is for all level paddlers from novice to advanced, though not for complete beginners.
You do not need to be participating in the ICF races to attend this clinic. (Though I might encourage you to😉)

The 🐈s out the bag. 📣 I’m realizing I never announced that I decided I am going to Thailand in November for the ICF SUP World Championships.
Heading into 2023 I had plans of focusing solely on ultra distance events, 2 of which were 70 and 80 miles long that I completed in June of this year.
I’m not sure exactly what sparked the shift. I think it was simply the opportunity to travel with my family to a place we have never been and always wanted to go.
I decided that I would do just that, go just for fun, using the world championships as a catalyst for booking a trip of a lifetime.
And then I started training.
In July I shifted gears completely.
I started working with my coach @Larrycaincanoe again with the goal of seeing how well I could actually be paddling by November if I put my mind, body, and soul in to it.
I’m actually starting to tear up as I write this. (You know I get emotional) because the shift has been profound.
You also know (if you’ve been following along) that I’m not one for “comebacks” mostly because I have a hard time with using the word “back” to describe where I am going.
And I’m also in tears because I am terrifying the 💩 out of myself writing this. (That whole, it’s not real till you tell someone about it, and now I’m telling the world thing…)
I’m not the athlete that I was.
I’m not back where I was.
I’m not as fast, nor as strong, and my stamina is still not there yet.
No,
I’m even better.
My mindset, my heart, my purpose,
my Devotion, (and my technique) have reached new heights.
Paddling feels fucking great.
I have no idea how I’ll do against the best in the world. And I don’t care.
I’m reveling in how stoked I feel in this moment.
The journey. The process. The integrity and reciprocity I feel in Life, this sport, my business, my body, and the Divine.
7 weeks till we leave for Thailand - let’s fucking go!!!!

Strength endurance sets 😳🥵🥴🫡😜I can’t believe how different training feels now that I track my cycle. Ladies it’s a game changer.

*Day 1 and I’m in my🩸flow. Instead of dreading this week or already fatigued from not training properly in my luteal phase therefore heading into this cycle feeling less motivated, malnourished, and not recovered,….
I feel great. And I’m still doing less sets + shorter session = no problem finding motivation + my body still gets to move + I’m able to recover = gains without pains.

*Your lack of motivation, extra muscle soreness, pains, fatigue, poor sleep, making excuses, most of the things that generally lead to a lack of accountability can stem from a cumulative effect of not training (and living) in sync with your cyclical nature.

Well that was sweet. Super fun vibes at the sprint races yesterday. Catching some of that double over big toe Hilton Head swell. Stoked to win all my heats. Here’s a reel I made of the final of the women’s heats.
This community is rad. I’m so grateful. We even have a friendly #battleofthebrands rivalry between Flying Fish , SIC , Black project and QB. We have fun with it. And it’s what makes this sport and these folks special.

Bittersweet, awesome, and all-the-feels kind of day at the @lowcountry_boil_paddle_battle.
Bitter because I’ve been training hard and I finally feel like I’m ready to be giving it my all and competing with the best again. I’ve been measuring my progress against Kim all year, who is definitely and most impressively at the top of her game this year.
And I wanted this one.
And sweet because I proved to myself that I AM ready. I’m right there. And even though that was the hardest I’ve pushed in a long time and possibly ever, (because I’m definitely still making progress and not quite ‘back’ to where I was in 2019) I didn’t give up.
I dug deep the entire race to stay with her, even when every overheated daemon in my head told me I couldn’t hang on any longer, I never settled.
And that felt GOOOOOOD.
I didn’t win the race, but I won several battles in my head along the way. And that’s what makes you stronger.
It was super close and came down to a sprint finish. 🩵🤯🥴😵‍💫🫠🤮I literally died on my board as I crossed the finish line. Videos of the start and finish are on my stories. I’ll try to find some more photos of the race to post.
Today we have some fun sprint races at the beach.
Then a long drive home to my boys who I miss so much.
This is my first trip solo as a mom.
So stoked for all of these women and everyone who paddled today. It was such a great turn out for this event and I’m stoked to see the sport doing so well and growing again!

I want to share something personal with you. Sometimes people assume that because I'm among the best at what I do, that it all came naturally to me or that I've been doing it forever.
But that's far from the truth.
Once upon a time, I was just like you. (or closer than you think) When I started paddling, I was fresh off a divorce, working three jobs to make ends meet, and had no clue about paddling. Paddleboarding entered my life when I needed it most, motivating me to become the person I am today—breaking records and winning a world championship.
But it was far from a smooth transformation.
As I mentioned in my last post, I faced a lot of common challenges along the way. I didn't have much time or resources, but I did have an unshakable determination to figure it out, learn, and improve. I sought out coaches and received invaluable help. It was the best investment I made in myself.
Now, I've honed my skills in helping other paddlers overcome these very obstacles.
And you don't need to aspire to world records or championships to benefit from what I have to offer.
Titles aren't why I paddle.
I do it because it feels incredible. I'm passionate about the process. And I want the same for you!
That's it.

Looking forward to more time on the water this fall? Me too! I've heard it said by most, the fall is their favorite time of the year to paddle. Temperatures are cooling down, life is slowing down, and there is still plenty of daylight to enjoy sunrises like this one.

Some thoughts I've been sitting on since the @seventy48.
This is an event that takes months to prepare for and yet, as you may well have noticed, I didn't share much about it in the lead up.
Not until the day before the race. When I reached out for strength, prayers, and asking you to follow my tracker.
And I'll tell you why that is.
I didn't tell you I was training or preparing for this race because I was scared.
I wasn't sure I could/would/wanted to go through with it.
I wasn't sure I could complete the distance. It had been so long since I raced an ultra.
I held some doubt.
"Am I still that woman who can do this?
So much has changed."
I didn't tell you because I wanted the excuse out.
"If no one (apart from my unconditionally loving family) knows that I am signed up, then no one will know that I dropped out, quit, didn't make it or didn't even show up."...
When it came down to it, I had no excuses.
I was fully prepared physically and logistically, (because I did prepare for months for this event) and even mentally I was ready for the challenge. I just needed my heart (and my ego) on board.
So I made a post.
I remembered that if I knew you were watching, cheering, supporting me, I would really show up for it.
I needed accountability.
Thank you Instagram, where you can literally tell the whole world what you are up to. (Well that's what it feels like)
And thank YOU those of you who rallied, sent messages, comments, and Love.
We are not meant to go through life alone.
In fact we are much stronger together and when we feel supported.
Community gives us strength, courage, accountability, and purpose.
I guess the point of this ramble is that the next time you are wavering, and you need a little or a big push, make sure there are others that know what you are working for.
That know what your goals and dreams are.
That are checking in on you consistently.
Family, friends, coaches, or all of the above. (and everyone on Instagram 😜)
It helps.

You know that feeling when you put someone up on a pedestal, and then when you actually meet them in person It's a totally different experience.
I've done this recently.
I'm sure people often have this experience of me.
When you realize they're a real person with awkwardness and wierdness and flaws just like you.
How often do we project on to others who we think they are based off a small glimpse of their reality.
Often a carefully selected and creatively crafted glimpse.
We think we know people.
We may very well know true and current things about them, but very few people do you really know. Like full-picture know.
Even when you do meet in person. It's still a small glimpse.
For example I def have an outgoing, energetic, "teaching persona" when I host clinics and events. Yet when I'm home I never want to leave the house. (And rarely do unless it's to the beach)
Online I do my best to motivate, educate, inspire, when in reality most days I do my fair share of searching for motivation and inspiration to get things (like training) done.
Just a reminder next time you are judging or comparing yourself to someone, in person or online.
A reminder for the next time you meet that person you have fanned over on social for the last 5 years.
While it may be flattering to be placed on a pedestal,
it creates way more connection when you view someone as a real, whole person, who has their fair share of flaws, idiosyncrasies, and challenges just like you.
Be a fan, absolutely. And take care of how you may be projecting if that person is someone you truly want to make a connection with.
And isn't connection something we are all craving more of?

Some thoughts on training and racing with a period.
A huge part of womens sports that's not often talked about.
I've been getting questions and comments since I started talking about how my hormone cycle effects my training and racing.
It seems women definitely want more.
Until a few years ago I was just like most women.
For years my period came irregularly,
then for years I was using an IUD.
And although my training, racing, (and every aspect of my life) was deeply effected by my monthly cycle, I didn't know much about it at all.
And I never tracked my cycle.
I basically associated bleeding with 1 thing, lack of pregnancy, and considered it a nuisance when it came otherwise.
Woah. 😳 Was I missing the picture entirely.
In the last few years I've dove deep into educating myself on womens health and hormones, and our cyclical nature.
There is SO MUCH more to the menstrual cycle than just a period.
And when you learn to track yours, (without the interference of hormone contraception and IUDs,)
you learn how to live, work, train, fuel, and recover in whole new ways.
Even if you are past your bleeding years, tapping in to your cyclical nature, knowing and living by your cycle, syncing your training to your cycle,
It's a complete game changer.
I have experienced this and my female coaching clients experience it as well.
Okay what I actually wanted to write this post about 👉🏻👉🏻 👉🏻
As athletes we often only associate our cycles with our periods and the negative effects we feel when it comes to performance.
And the truth is, every phase of the menstrual cycle has its different benefits from the hormone shifts we experience.
And we can use this to optimize the way we train, fuel, recover, make progress, feel about ourselves, and show up on race day.
Rather than what I see most often in women, which is quite the opposite.
Okay thats my thoughts, for now.
I'll continue to share these parts of my journey with you as there so much more to unpack here.

Beautiful morning on the water.
I wanted to shoot some videos to analyze for myself this morning but the sunrise and slow mo setting on the camera had different ideas. 🌞🌊✨
(I just finished writing a wonderful and insightful caption about coaching and paddling and just before I went to hit share, it disappeared!! here's a not as awesome second try. )
In analyzing my most recent races Ive noticed that my technique is going to sh*t when I get tired or am trying too hard.
Taking some of my own coaching and advice (the kind we need to take most often)
Don't sacrifice form for intensity.
Actually I think these words originally came from my coach @larrycaincanoe.
It's something most of us do. And there's definitely wiggle room in there for technique to take on different forms with different intensities.
I like analyzing my stroke at different intensities.
One of the reasons I am a good coach is because I make the same mistakes as you do. and I'm always learning how to be better.

And I do mean dripping... and yes I just went there. 🫦😜😏
I do this because it feeeeeeelz good.
There's a direct correlation between the the way we move our body and the pleasure we receive from it.
A heavy-hitting, sweat-soaking, full-power session does it for me. (Among a list of many other things that turn me ON.)
Maybe not for every woman.
Maybe not for you.
But for those of you who are feeling me loud and clear.
I see you.
And this is your reminder to get it good today.
I'm not punishing myself or my body.
I'm not "working off calories" or sweating out pounds.
I am celebrating my body.
I am strengthening her.
I am savoring every precious drop of sweat.
I am getting a serious hit of feel good chemicals coursing through my veins
And I am feeling LIT UP.
I'm also ovulating.
Which means it is the time in my cycle when I have the most to give, the most drive, the most turn on, the most muscle building capacity, and the quickest recovery times. (and the most desire to make a post like this.) mostly due to increased testosterone during this phase of our cycle.
Ladies, do you track your cycle and take it into consideration in your training?
It's a game changer.
The moon is also full right now. Another reason to light it the F up this week in whatever it is you are pursuing.

Something I've known about myself for a long time but only recently started to really KNOW about myself is that I am Intense.
I am an intense person.
And that is often how I come across, especially when the circumstances are heightened.
Of course I am.
How else could I be?
To pursue a sport as a career,
To willingly paddle 70, 80, 100 mile races, and to excel, to dominate at doing so...
The list could go on and on of examples since my childhood, but I'll leave it at the most recent.
It's fucking intense. The places you must go inside your mind and body to be such a person.
It's a super power.
Yet what I'm learning and being reflected a lot in my life right now is how this intensity seeps into places where it's not such a super power.
Places where it's a big turn-off and loss of connection to source, to others and to self.
It's like how everything in life has a light and a dark side.
My abilities in positive self talk, drive, determination, grit... go hand in hand with
My ability to push,
to fight,
to desensitize,
to go numb....(just to name a few)
Each have their time and place.
It's a challenge to at all times BE truly who you are,
to be honest,
to be fully expressed,
and yet not be too much of whatever THAT is to stay connected to someone or some situation.
...
Do you really KNOW things about yourself?
Do you regularly receive (untriggered) reflections from yourself and others on how your actions effect?
Do you look for lessons in every upset in life and learn and become a better person for it?
Maybe I'm just really intense, 😉 a masochistic maven, but it's something I practice everyday.
The more painful, the more potent.
(Haha. A totally new meaning to the words "No pain, no gain!")😆😝🤪🤩💪🏻

Feels so good to be racing again!
I'm definitely a new me.
I'm remembering so much about what it takes to be skilled at racing.
There's the fitness and the technique and there's the skills and the smarts and the strategy,
and there's the experience that you can only gain by the repeat experience.
I had so much fun yesterday at the flying fish race in Jensen beach!
Course racing at it finest.
(5miles. 6 laps. 6 turns each lap)
There's nothing more motivating than seeing your own progress.
Every time a little bit better.
I'm so grateful to have some of the fastest women in the US to race against.
I'm feeling hungrier by the session.
Really enjoying the journey.
Enjoying leaning and remembering
What my body can do.
The best part is the 'new' me is a lot more relaxed about the outcome. A lot less stressed and anxious about the details. A lot more focused on my family. And on enjoying the experience and having fun.
I used to feel like I had so much to prove.
I was really hard on myself.
Now I am proving to myself that I can learn and grow and be my best in whole new ways.

What a week! We had so much fun in Hood River for the @sicmaui Gorge paddle challenge.
Stoked with the vibe of the event, the camaraderie of team SIC, and especially with the time I got to spend with my family, all my siblings on both sides who came to watch.
I feel so loved and supported on this journey by sponsors, family, friends, and fans.
This was a great test of where I am currently in my return to racing journey.
A lot of things were extra challenging this week, things I am proud of myself for handling with grace.
Between overnight flights, not having air con in the room, Ry being sick with a fever for three days, and my period arriving this weekend, I hardly got any sleep or rest.
But as surprising as it sounds, I don't think much of that effected my performance.
The downwind I am still improving on, and I did better than I ever have.
And in the course race it was my slow ass turns and not my paddling that held me back.
We are on our way home now and of course I've caught whatever bug kiddo had this week.
I can't wait to hit my own bed for what will hopefully be the first good nights sleep in a week.

Totally stoked with my 3rd place finish yesterday in the downwind race at the @sicmaui Gorge paddle!
What a fun day of racing!
Congrats to everyone. Especially these awesome ladies. It's an honor to push and to test myself against you once more.
So many people here I haven't seen or raced with in 4 years!! Feels good to be here.
Yesterday before the elite start we were all laughing and joking on the water together. What an awesome vibe for a start line!
Today is the course race. Should be super exciting to watch.

What am I up to with my giant pink inner tube?
I found it on the beach one morning floated up.
Took it home.
Tied a cement circle from a piece of lawn furniture to it
Using an extra long tie down strap
And voila,
A turn buoy that I anchor out and use for tech race practice.
and it cost me nothing.
And bonus, I get lots of funny looks from the neighbors for it.

The official X4CF results are in! (And I know I said it wasn't about what I am about to share, but let me take this moment to celebrate with you in any case)
Not only did I land 1st place female, I came 1st place over all for solo competitors, and set a new Crossing record of 12 hours and 39 minutes.
Damn. Now I am feeling really proud of myself.
I wasn't prepared to make a speech or to answer the question that @travis_suit asked me up on stage, "What was the hardest part for the crossing for you?" and most of what I said isn't captured in this video, but...
I had some time to think more about it on the drive home and this is what I'd like to share:
The hardest part for me wasn't the physical journey.
I wasn't in pain.
I didn't want to quit.
And THAT WAS the hardest part.
There is this powerful, alchemical feeling that comes from pushing past the wall of doubts and fears and reasons to quit. The inner strength required to dig deep, remember your Why, and keep going when parts of you are begging to stop.
The moment when you find yourself over that wall, and facing a finish line you didn't know you were going to make.
It's the most empowering feeling. It fills you with pride and joy makes you stronger
And it's the feeling that keeps us coming back for more.
AND I didn't have that feeling for this event.
You would think confidence over self doubt is a good thing. And it is, but what I lacked going in to this event was humility for how hard it was going to be.
Instead of celebrating myself for keeping on pushing during those moments where it felt really hard, I just expected myself to do it. (how often do we let expectations take us down?)
and I just wanted it to be over
The lesson I learned from this event is one I am remedied of often in life. Be humble
Even if you are a World Class Baddass
I'm not saying to doubt yourself or your abilities, your drive or your will.
I'm saying don't set expectations based upon them.
Enjoy each moment for the power it contains.

Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis post 3 of 3. - But "winning" this event isn't what this event is about.
It is about the paddlers like Marc Connor, a CF warrior who happened to cross the finish line 10 steps behind me.
He's battled his entire life to be here. He definitely deserved that finish line glory more than I did.
And it's about the over $4200 that my team and I raised for @pipersangelsfoundation and the almost $700,000 that the collective community fundraised this year.
The records and scores to be celebrated for this race aren't the fastest times or speed records.
They are the most funds raised and the most heart left out in the ocean.
I have a lot of people to thank.
(And now I am going to start crying)
To the man who danced and sang with me every stroke of the way, even when I was screaming in agony at him (which I did a lot)
To the man who can hold me in all of my intensity and rawness and love me through it and even more for it. I don't know what I would do or who I would be without you Will.
To my parents who've raised and supported me to be the warrior that I am today And who took care of Ry while we were away and made sure he was waiting for me at the finish.
To my Captain and Crew who volunteered their time and energy to be my support vessel and generously donated all reimbursements to the cause.
To @travis_suit for founding, fathering, and fearlessly leading this expedition for the last 10 years. Travis is one of the most motivational, grateful, and lit up on life people that I know and I love him so much for it. The kind of person who makes everyone feels like a soul brother or sister. Thank you Brother.

Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis post 2 of 3 - It takes everything to do a feat like this.
The full power of your body, mind, and spirit . My battle was not a physical nor a mental one this time around.
My battle was with my emotions. My spirit.
And that humility I discovered was a missing piece that I will never forget again.
One of the best parts of doing a challenge like this is the inner strength gained from pushing though the wall of doubts and reasons to quit. The amazing feeling in the moment you realize you are actually going to fucking make it.
I didn't have that this time around.
And I missed it. I knew I could do it and I just wanted it to be over. I wasn't celebrating myself.
I'm not sure how many people were able to make it fully from beach to beach. A large storm rolled in and many paddlers had to mandatorily board their support boats and relocate to safety. (A devastating heart break for some and a welcome rescue for others I am sure)
I was one of the lucky few who was close/fast enough to make it the entire way and avoid the storm.
I crossed the finish line an emotional wreck. So many friends and family were there. My baby boy was there and I grabbed him from my mom as I crossed the finish line.
It was chaos.
I wasn't even (and I'm still not even) sure if I won or what my time was. ('Im pretty sure I did. And my time was around 12:40)
I was upset that so many paddlers who had gotten a ride to the beach to avoid the storm were finishing at the same time as me, who had just paddled the whole way.

Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis - post 1 of 3 ✨ Wow. What an experience. What an event. I am still processing all that happened and how I feel.
For those of you that don't know, this event is so much more than a race.
It is a fundraiser that supports the families of those with cystic fibrosis,
it is a community of beautiful, water-loving souls,
it is one epic, 80 mile paddle crossing challenge,
and it is so powerful to be a part of.

It was an honor to join your warriors this year.
The lead up days in Bimini were full of community, love, gratitude, fun, salt, sun, nerves and anticipation.
It was the first time I was away for Ry for more than 15 hours. I was really missing him.
I was also struggling with some things about the trip that I don't care to share on social media.
I was a mixed bag of deep emotions from start to finish.
Especially during the 80 mile paddle.
Especially when I got tired and hot.
But, I'm getting ahead of my self.
We honored loved ones with roses. Hundreds of us holding hands and chanting/shouting HA NE! I AM HERE! (A mantra that came to me often during my 12.5 hour paddle) And we were sent off the beach at midnight with fireworks.
We paddled into the night and it was a rough first few hours. Trying to find my glide amidst confused seas and darkness. (Not pictured here)

It was hard work.
I confess I did not enter this event with the humility it deserves.
I felt confident.
I knew without a doubt that I could and would make it.
The sunrise was magical. The seas calmed down. It was a glorious day.
I did not feel much physical pain.
My body held strong.
But
I got tired and I got hot
And I let those emotions I was speaking about put a cloud over my experience.
