Some thoughts I wrote down a few days ago that I’d love for you to read:
Don’t assume that because I’m being honest that I need to be “cheered up.”
I can have a shit day/race/experience and not be upset about it
I can be tired/frustrated/sad/angry
and not need a pep talk.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to be honest and express yourself and not fear another’s judgment for doing so.
It goes both ways too. I sometimes have a hard time expressing my joy because I fear being misunderstood.
Most of the time people simply filter your words through their personal lense of experiences and then project on to you how they would feel.
I am fully aware that I am far from perfect and that I do this to others
and that the things we judge most harshly in others are often just the ways we judge ourselves.
And the lack of consciousness around this is a huge problem we have with communicating and relating in this world.
We will never be understood 100% of the time.
And that doesn’t mean we need to be constantly explaining ourselves.
It’s exhausting to do so.
We (I) just need to remember that.
Sometimes it just feels easier to speak bullshit than to speak truth because you can get a predictable reaction.
The reminders that I need:
- don’t let others reactions cause you to react.
Let them have their story
It’s doesn’t need to be yours.
- Practice listening. Actually fully listening to another person.
Not to cheer up, fix or advise. Just listen.
It’s their story. Not yours.
The world would be a better place.

A few reflections on my week at the worlds.
Key takeaways I’ll share with you.
1. I’m bloody fast. The fastest woman in the world. 😳 😳That’s absolutely incredible. And a testament to my technique (and my training and equipment for sure)
And,
I feel there’s loads of room for improvement on my sprints as well, which makes me super excited.
2. Racing in itself is a skill that needs to be practiced just like all the others.
Speed, stamina, skills, none of them alone are enough.
You need the experience of lining up shoulder to shoulder with others, knowing where to line up and the start line dynamics. You need to experience the nerves of excitement, staying calm and focused amidst the chaos. You need to practice paddling through board wash and navigating cut throat crowded turns.
The confidence to do all of those things takes practice. And for that you need to race
preferably with people who are better at it than you so that you can learn.
Training is important. Technique is important. Fitness is important.
And so is showing up to races to put those things to the test!
I’m so glad I came here.
I haven’t raced at this level in years. And I’m definitely a bit rusty on some things.
The season is over and I feel so fired up for 2024.

That’s a wrap! Wow! What an experience!
I really REALLY enjoying myself competing in the World Championships this week in a Thailand!
I am so happy I came here. So happy to be racing again. A real homecoming for me.
Tears in my eyes as I write this.
I feel home again in this sport.
I feel at home racing.
Exactly where I’m meant to be.
I can’t believe I almost gave it all up.
And
I am so glad to have taken a break to become a mother, to have had a feminine and spiritual revival, and to be able to return to SUP as a more complete woman and athlete.
Mother, athlete, coach, inspiration and inspired!
To race with no expectations and no pressure.
All gratitude and stoke.
All for giving back to those of you who watch the races and read these posts.
What a blessing.
I am not the same athlete. I don’t train as hard. I’m not as fit or as strong as I was.
No, I’m even better.
I am so stoked to have won Gold 🥇 in the sprints.
And, it doesn’t feel about the win.
My tech semifinal race today was on 🔥.
My final race however was a bit of 💩 show.
Once I feel behind and knew the podium was off the table I just said to myself, “hey, just have fun.” And then that’s what I did.
It was super fun to battle it out with the best in the world.
And finish with a smile on my face as I crossed the line.
And I do believe ALL of the best in the World were here for this event. And pinch me I’m one of them!
Over 1000 athletes from I don’t even know how many countries around the world here to celebrate our sport.
Wow!
Congrats to everyone!!!!

Hi!!!!! It’s still sinking in. Sprint World Champion once again. I’m still having a hard time finding words. And mostly it’s because I’m also still racing! Ha! 🤪🥵💃🏼 And super focused on being fully present, doing my best, giving my all, and having fun for ALL the events this week!
I am also super stoked with my 5th place finish in the 15k distance race.
I had a terrible start and ended up really far behind the leaders. Def out of practice with crowded start lines. (Also if you watched the livestream, the gps and commentators were way off. That wasn’t me up front on the SIC, it was my Japanese teammate Rika.)
I didn’t have enough to catch up, but I powered through for a finishing position I feel really proud of.
If you had asked me when I decided to come to the Worlds this year back in June, I would never had thought I’d be up with the top women so soon. I took such a long time off, I didn’t know if I would ever return. I feel so blessed and so grateful I decided to follow my passion, my calling, and find my purpose in paddling once more. ❤️‍🔥
Today is the 1k technical race finals.
I’m feeling good and excited. Tech race may not be my strongest, but I think it’s the most fun event to race. (And to watch! 10:30pm est women’s semifinals)
Thank you SO much everyone for the wishes, cheers, congratulations, prayers, and stoke!

Our pit stop in Long Beach, CA was a success! Thank you @usasupracing for putting on the inaugural USA National Championships.
USA SUP is doing a lot of hard work to be and provide just what our sport needs in this country right now. 👏🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼
Stoked and honored to earn the first ever 200M USA National Champion.
Thank you to all the volunteers of the event and to everyone who travels from around the country to get here. I was awesome to see so many faces I haven’t seen in a long time.

I entered this weekend asking not for the win, but for the “perfect results.”
I co create with Life for things to manifest “under grace and in perfect ways.” (a quote from Yasmin Boland)
That is exactly how I feel about this weekend at the ICF SUP World Cup.
🥇 200m sprint
🥇 10k distance race
🥈 800m technical
Grace - I’ve never felt so calm before, at the start, and during a race.
Not thinking,
Just knowing
that I knew what to do and that whatever happened was going to be perfect.
((perhaps too calm in the tech race I’ll admit, but I’ll make a separate post on how that was Perfect because of what I learned from it))
There was no doubt.
No questioning.
Just Full Trust.
Just a “You got this sister. I am with you”
I wish I could feel that way for every race.
And perhaps I can.
I may not have been training hard over the last 3 years, (I have over the last 3 months)
But I did do A LOT of work on my spirit, my relationships, my life outside of paddling that actually means so much more to me than any win could and that helps me to take and keep the pressure off.
Gosh there’s a million little things I could say about this.
But I think I’ll leave it here for now.
This weekend was great training for the World Championships coming up in 4 weeks in Thailand.
I secured my place on team USA. And gained some great insight in to how I want to focus my training until then.

There’s a thousand words I could say but nothing would describe the feeling. And I’m actually not even talking about the win. (Although that feels fucking amazing!) I’m talking about how you can be
so present,
so focused,
switched on,
and IN YOUR POWER
that the entire world around you dissolved into nothingness.
and for one endless minute in time, you feel limitless, nothingness.
I felt that today in the 200m sprints.
100% IN IT
Beyond stoked and grateful for this victory.

“I just need to do one more long paddle” … “I can keep paddling, but I can’t seem to get my pace up” … “I just need to get little faster.” … and on and on. I hear it all the time.
“What am I doing wrong?” …
Paddling more miles, especially going out and doing the same route over and over again and trying to get faster each time… doesn’t make you faster.
Listen closely if you are in the final weeks before Chattajack right now and are concerned because you didn’t hit your goal distance for your longer training paddles. And you think you have one more chance to do that this weekend.
Don’t.
You’ll better serve yourself at this point by paddling less volume (a lot less) and picking up the pace.
You get faster by paddling faster.
Shorter, harder intervals.
and Speed work.
You get faster by improving your skills and your stroke technique.
Starts, footwork, steering and maneuvering, drafting, turns, …
It depends on your exact event you are preparing for.
If you are unsure how to implement this into your training, work with a coach and follow a plan.
I signed up, but I won’t be paddling down the TN River this year. Training for the Worlds in Thailand has taken precedence.
I am however training a few folks for it.
And I’ve been thinking of you all, everyone who is planning on CJ this year.
Even if I’m not your coach, or you are training for a completely different event, I’m here to help.
I welcome your questions.

That post surf stoke glow. Such a fun session! (on Saturday) I haven’t had my longboard out in a while.
I stopped breast feeding a few weeks ago. (18months)
bye bye boobs. You were fun while you lasted.
I’ve been a flat chested gal all my life.
I really enjoyed having some curves for a while.
I really enjoyed breast feeding. And I was ready to stop. (He was not) And it was a long transition.
It feels good to have my full body autonomy back.

I’m willing to bet you have routines, habits, and rituals surrounding and supporting everything you are truly devoted to.
For me right now it’s my desire to live in Integrity.
Showing up as the Whole being
Athlete
Coach
Mother & Wife
So everyday I train, I work, I spend time with my family.
Even when I don’t want to.
Even when it’s really hard.
I never question Why
And I never abandon myself in the process.
Our devotions come from an internal desire for something. (Connection, purpose,…)
Our discipline comes from an external desire for something (results, recognition,…)
The masculine has goals he/she wants to achieve
The feminine has desires he/she longs to have met.
The OUTCOME can be the same either way.
It’s about the energy you feel in the process.
Knowing the two and being able to dance in between them as needed.

One is not greater. One is not right or wrong.
I believe we need both.
For a long time I had only discipline to rely on. I had to keep my own fire lit.
And I was so close to burning out.
Now I know devotion, and though my plate is more full these days than it’s ever been, it’s like a never ending source of fuel to keep me stoked.

📣Clinic Announcement! 📣 I will be holding a Stroke Technique Clinic in Sarasota, FL during the ICF SUP World Cup
When: Thursday October 12, 2023
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
What: Stroke Technique Clinic with Seychelle
Where: Nathan Benderson Park - Sarasota, FL
It’s been a while since I’ve been on the west coast of Florida. I’m excited to meet some new faces and see many I haven’t in a very long time.
I will be hosting a 2 hour stand up paddle clinic on land and on the water. We will go over paddle stroke technique and practice drills to improve your stroke efficiency, power, and speed. We will also discuss best practices and stroke adjustments to modify for and prevent injuries.
Bring all of your SUP stroke questions, your board, paddle, pfd, and water bottle.
This clinic is for all level paddlers from novice to advanced, though not for complete beginners.
You do not need to be participating in the ICF races to attend this clinic. (Though I might encourage you to😉)

The 🐈s out the bag. 📣 I’m realizing I never announced that I decided I am going to Thailand in November for the ICF SUP World Championships.
Heading into 2023 I had plans of focusing solely on ultra distance events, 2 of which were 70 and 80 miles long that I completed in June of this year.
I’m not sure exactly what sparked the shift. I think it was simply the opportunity to travel with my family to a place we have never been and always wanted to go.
I decided that I would do just that, go just for fun, using the world championships as a catalyst for booking a trip of a lifetime.
And then I started training.
In July I shifted gears completely.
I started working with my coach @Larrycaincanoe again with the goal of seeing how well I could actually be paddling by November if I put my mind, body, and soul in to it.
I’m actually starting to tear up as I write this. (You know I get emotional) because the shift has been profound.
You also know (if you’ve been following along) that I’m not one for “comebacks” mostly because I have a hard time with using the word “back” to describe where I am going.
And I’m also in tears because I am terrifying the 💩 out of myself writing this. (That whole, it’s not real till you tell someone about it, and now I’m telling the world thing…)
I’m not the athlete that I was.
I’m not back where I was.
I’m not as fast, nor as strong, and my stamina is still not there yet.
No,
I’m even better.
My mindset, my heart, my purpose,
my Devotion, (and my technique) have reached new heights.
Paddling feels fucking great.
I have no idea how I’ll do against the best in the world. And I don’t care.
I’m reveling in how stoked I feel in this moment.
The journey. The process. The integrity and reciprocity I feel in Life, this sport, my business, my body, and the Divine.
7 weeks till we leave for Thailand - let’s fucking go!!!!

Strength endurance sets 😳🥵🥴🫡😜I can’t believe how different training feels now that I track my cycle. Ladies it’s a game changer.

*Day 1 and I’m in my🩸flow. Instead of dreading this week or already fatigued from not training properly in my luteal phase therefore heading into this cycle feeling less motivated, malnourished, and not recovered,….
I feel great. And I’m still doing less sets + shorter session = no problem finding motivation + my body still gets to move + I’m able to recover = gains without pains.

Well that was sweet. Super fun vibes at the sprint races yesterday. Catching some of that double over big toe Hilton Head swell. Stoked to win all my heats. Here’s a reel I made of the final of the women’s heats.
This community is rad. I’m so grateful. We even have a friendly #battleofthebrands rivalry between Flying Fish , SIC , Black project and QB. We have fun with it. And it’s what makes this sport and these folks special.

Bittersweet, awesome, and all-the-feels kind of day at the @lowcountry_boil_paddle_battle.
Bitter because I’ve been training hard and I finally feel like I’m ready to be giving it my all and competing with the best again. I’ve been measuring my progress against Kim all year, who is definitely and most impressively at the top of her game this year.
And I wanted this one.
And sweet because I proved to myself that I AM ready. I’m right there. And even though that was the hardest I’ve pushed in a long time and possibly ever, (because I’m definitely still making progress and not quite ‘back’ to where I was in 2019) I didn’t give up.
I dug deep the entire race to stay with her, even when every overheated daemon in my head told me I couldn’t hang on any longer, I never settled.
And that felt GOOOOOOD.
I didn’t win the race, but I won several battles in my head along the way. And that’s what makes you stronger.
It was super close and came down to a sprint finish. 🩵🤯🥴😵‍💫🫠🤮I literally died on my board as I crossed the finish line. Videos of the start and finish are on my stories. I’ll try to find some more photos of the race to post.
Today we have some fun sprint races at the beach.
Then a long drive home to my boys who I miss so much.
This is my first trip solo as a mom.
So stoked for all of these women and everyone who paddled today. It was such a great turn out for this event and I’m stoked to see the sport doing so well and growing again!

I want to share something personal with you. Sometimes people assume that because I'm among the best at what I do, that it all came naturally to me or that I've been doing it forever.
But that's far from the truth.
Once upon a time, I was just like you. (or closer than you think) When I started paddling, I was fresh off a divorce, working three jobs to make ends meet, and had no clue about paddling. Paddleboarding entered my life when I needed it most, motivating me to become the person I am today—breaking records and winning a world championship.
But it was far from a smooth transformation.
As I mentioned in my last post, I faced a lot of common challenges along the way. I didn't have much time or resources, but I did have an unshakable determination to figure it out, learn, and improve. I sought out coaches and received invaluable help. It was the best investment I made in myself.
Now, I've honed my skills in helping other paddlers overcome these very obstacles.
And you don't need to aspire to world records or championships to benefit from what I have to offer.
Titles aren't why I paddle.
I do it because it feels incredible. I'm passionate about the process. And I want the same for you!
