So everyday I train, I work, I spend time with my family.
Even when I don’t want to.
Even when it’s really hard.
I never question Why
And I never abandon myself in the process.
Our devotions come from an internal desire for something. (Connection, purpose,…)
Our discipline comes from an external desire for something (results, recognition,…)
The masculine has goals he/she wants to achieve
The feminine has desires he/she longs to have met.
The OUTCOME can be the same either way.
It’s about the energy you feel in the process.
Knowing the two and being able to dance in between them as needed.

I believe we need both.
For a long time I had only discipline to rely on. I had to keep my own fire lit.
And I was so close to burning out.
Now I know devotion, and though my plate is more full these days than it’s ever been, it’s like a never ending source of fuel to keep me stoked.

What: Stroke Technique Clinic with Seychelle
Where: Nathan Benderson Park – Sarasota, FL
It’s been a while since I’ve been on the west coast of Florida. I’m excited to meet some new faces and see many I haven’t in a very long time.
I will be hosting a 2 hour stand up paddle clinic on land and on the water. We will go over paddle stroke technique and practice drills to improve your stroke efficiency, power, and speed. We will also discuss best practices and stroke adjustments to modify for and prevent injuries.
Bring all of your SUP stroke questions, your board, paddle, pfd, and water bottle.
This clinic is for all level paddlers from novice to advanced, though not for complete beginners.
You do not need to be participating in the ICF races to attend this clinic. (Though I might encourage you to😉)

The 🐈s out the bag. 📣 I’m realizing I never announced that I decided I am going to Thailand in November for the ICF SUP World Championships.
Heading into 2023 I had plans of focusing solely on ultra distance events, 2 of which were 70 and 80 miles long that I completed in June of this year.
I’m not sure exactly what sparked the shift. I think it was simply the opportunity to travel with my family to a place we have never been and always wanted to go.
I decided that I would do just that, go just for fun, using the world championships as a catalyst for booking a trip of a lifetime.
And then I started training.
In July I shifted gears completely.
I started working with my coach @Larrycaincanoe again with the goal of seeing how well I could actually be paddling by November if I put my mind, body, and soul in to it.
I’m actually starting to tear up as I write this. (You know I get emotional) because the shift has been profound.
You also know (if you’ve been following along) that I’m not one for “comebacks” mostly because I have a hard time with using the word “back” to describe where I am going.
And I’m also in tears because I am terrifying the 💩 out of myself writing this. (That whole, it’s not real till you tell someone about it, and now I’m telling the world thing…)
I’m not the athlete that I was.
I’m not back where I was.
I’m not as fast, nor as strong, and my stamina is still not there yet.
No,
I’m even better.
My mindset, my heart, my purpose,
my Devotion, (and my technique) have reached new heights.
Paddling feels fucking great.
I have no idea how I’ll do against the best in the world. And I don’t care.
I’m reveling in how stoked I feel in this moment.
The journey. The process. The integrity and reciprocity I feel in Life, this sport, my business, my body, and the Divine.
7 weeks till we leave for Thailand – let’s fucking go!!!!

Strength endurance sets 😳🥵🥴🫡😜I can’t believe how different training feels now that I track my cycle. Ladies it’s a game changer.

*Day 1 and I’m in my🩸flow. Instead of dreading this week or already fatigued from not training properly in my luteal phase therefore heading into this cycle feeling less motivated, malnourished, and not recovered,….
I feel great. And I’m still doing less sets + shorter session = no problem finding motivation + my body still gets to move + I’m able to recover = gains without pains.

Bittersweet, awesome, and all-the-feels kind of day at the @lowcountry_boil_paddle_battle.
Bitter because I’ve been training hard and I finally feel like I’m ready to be giving it my all and competing with the best again. I’ve been measuring my progress against Kim all year, who is definitely and most impressively at the top of her game this year.
And I wanted this one.
And sweet because I proved to myself that I AM ready. I’m right there. And even though that was the hardest I’ve pushed in a long time and possibly ever, (because I’m definitely still making progress and not quite ‘back’ to where I was in 2019) I didn’t give up.
I dug deep the entire race to stay with her, even when every overheated daemon in my head told me I couldn’t hang on any longer, I never settled.
And that felt GOOOOOOD.
I didn’t win the race, but I won several battles in my head along the way. And that’s what makes you stronger.
It was super close and came down to a sprint finish. 🩵🤯🥴😵💫🫠🤮I literally died on my board as I crossed the finish line. Videos of the start and finish are on my stories. I’ll try to find some more photos of the race to post.
Today we have some fun sprint races at the beach.
Then a long drive home to my boys who I miss so much.
This is my first trip solo as a mom.
So stoked for all of these women and everyone who paddled today. It was such a great turn out for this event and I’m stoked to see the sport doing so well and growing again!

I want to share something personal with you. Sometimes people assume that because I`m among the best at what I do, that it all came naturally to me or that I`ve been doing it forever.
But that`s far from the truth.
Once upon a time, I was just like you. (or closer than you think) When I started paddling, I was fresh off a divorce, working three jobs to make ends meet, and had no clue about paddling. Paddleboarding entered my life when I needed it most, motivating me to become the person I am today—breaking records and winning a world championship.
But it was far from a smooth transformation.
As I mentioned in my last post, I faced a lot of common challenges along the way. I didn`t have much time or resources, but I did have an unshakable determination to figure it out, learn, and improve. I sought out coaches and received invaluable help. It was the best investment I made in myself.
Now, I`ve honed my skills in helping other paddlers overcome these very obstacles.
And you don`t need to aspire to world records or championships to benefit from what I have to offer.
Titles aren`t why I paddle.
I do it because it feels incredible. I`m passionate about the process. And I want the same for you!
That`s it.

Some thoughts I`ve been sitting on since the @seventy48.
This is an event that takes months to prepare for and yet, as you may well have noticed, I didn`t share much about it in the lead up.
Not until the day before the race. When I reached out for strength, prayers, and asking you to follow my tracker.
And I`ll tell you why that is.
I didn`t tell you I was training or preparing for this race because I was scared.
I wasn`t sure I could/would/wanted to go through with it.
I wasn`t sure I could complete the distance. It had been so long since I raced an ultra.
I held some doubt.
"Am I still that woman who can do this?
So much has changed."
I didn`t tell you because I wanted the excuse out.
"If no one (apart from my unconditionally loving family) knows that I am signed up, then no one will know that I dropped out, quit, didn`t make it or didn`t even show up."…
When it came down to it, I had no excuses.
I was fully prepared physically and logistically, (because I did prepare for months for this event) and even mentally I was ready for the challenge. I just needed my heart (and my ego) on board.
So I made a post.
I remembered that if I knew you were watching, cheering, supporting me, I would really show up for it.
I needed accountability.
Thank you Instagram, where you can literally tell the whole world what you are up to. (Well that`s what it feels like)
And thank YOU those of you who rallied, sent messages, comments, and Love.
We are not meant to go through life alone.
In fact we are much stronger together and when we feel supported.
Community gives us strength, courage, accountability, and purpose.
I guess the point of this ramble is that the next time you are wavering, and you need a little or a big push, make sure there are others that know what you are working for.
That know what your goals and dreams are.
That are checking in on you consistently.
Family, friends, coaches, or all of the above. (and everyone on Instagram 😜)

You know that feeling when you put someone up on a pedestal, and then when you actually meet them in person It`s a totally different experience.
I`ve done this recently.
I`m sure people often have this experience of me.
When you realize they`re a real person with awkwardness and wierdness and flaws just like you.
How often do we project on to others who we think they are based off a small glimpse of their reality.
Often a carefully selected and creatively crafted glimpse.
We think we know people.
We may very well know true and current things about them, but very few people do you really know. Like full-picture know.
Even when you do meet in person. It`s still a small glimpse.
For example I def have an outgoing, energetic, "teaching persona" when I host clinics and events. Yet when I`m home I never want to leave the house. (And rarely do unless it`s to the beach)
Online I do my best to motivate, educate, inspire, when in reality most days I do my fair share of searching for motivation and inspiration to get things (like training) done.
Just a reminder next time you are judging or comparing yourself to someone, in person or online.
A reminder for the next time you meet that person you have fanned over on social for the last 5 years.
While it may be flattering to be placed on a pedestal,
it creates way more connection when you view someone as a real, whole person, who has their fair share of flaws, idiosyncrasies, and challenges just like you.
Be a fan, absolutely. And take care of how you may be projecting if that person is someone you truly want to make a connection with.
And isn`t connection something we are all craving more of?

Some thoughts on training and racing with a period.
A huge part of womens sports that`s not often talked about.
I`ve been getting questions and comments since I started talking about how my hormone cycle effects my training and racing.
It seems women definitely want more.
Until a few years ago I was just like most women.
For years my period came irregularly,
then for years I was using an IUD.
And although my training, racing, (and every aspect of my life) was deeply effected by my monthly cycle, I didn`t know much about it at all.
And I never tracked my cycle.
I basically associated bleeding with 1 thing, lack of pregnancy, and considered it a nuisance when it came otherwise.
Woah. 😳 Was I missing the picture entirely.
In the last few years I`ve dove deep into educating myself on womens health and hormones, and our cyclical nature.
There is SO MUCH more to the menstrual cycle than just a period.
And when you learn to track yours, (without the interference of hormone contraception and IUDs,)
you learn how to live, work, train, fuel, and recover in whole new ways.
Even if you are past your bleeding years, tapping in to your cyclical nature, knowing and living by your cycle, syncing your training to your cycle,
It`s a complete game changer.
I have experienced this and my female coaching clients experience it as well.

As athletes we often only associate our cycles with our periods and the negative effects we feel when it comes to performance.
And the truth is, every phase of the menstrual cycle has its different benefits from the hormone shifts we experience.
And we can use this to optimize the way we train, fuel, recover, make progress, feel about ourselves, and show up on race day.
Rather than what I see most often in women, which is quite the opposite.
Okay thats my thoughts, for now.

Beautiful morning on the water.
I wanted to shoot some videos to analyze for myself this morning but the sunrise and slow mo setting on the camera had different ideas. 🌞🌊✨
(I just finished writing a wonderful and insightful caption about coaching and paddling and just before I went to hit share, it disappeared!! here`s a not as awesome second try. )
In analyzing my most recent races Ive noticed that my technique is going to sh*t when I get tired or am trying too hard.
Taking some of my own coaching and advice (the kind we need to take most often)
Don`t sacrifice form for intensity.
Actually I think these words originally came from my coach @larrycaincanoe.
It`s something most of us do. And there`s definitely wiggle room in there for technique to take on different forms with different intensities.
I like analyzing my stroke at different intensities.
One of the reasons I am a good coach is because I make the same mistakes as you do. and I`m always learning how to be better.
I love the process.
